Sometimes we are asked to reach into our pocket or purse and donate money to help the poor.  Frequently we are able to do just that.  Other times we are asked to physically reach out to the poor through work projects, such as "Habitat for Humanity" or perhaps a mission trip to Jamaica.  Although there may be many who would like to work to travel to help the poor, it jsut isn't possible. 

There is yet another avenue for you to assist the poor and that is to be an advocate, something you can do without leaving your home and cost just a few pennies of postage.  You can write letters to your representatives in the Congress asking them to support or to refuse to support various legislative initiatives.  Follow this link ACTION ALERT, maybe this is somethihng you are able to do.
